Downtown Cleveland will be buzzing with excitement this Friday, April 10th as tens of thousands of fans will descend upon the Gateway District for the Cleveland Indians home opener against the Detroit Tigers at 4:10 p.m. at Progressive Field and the Cleveland Cavaliers vs. the Boston Celtics game at 7:30 p.m. at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse.

With the combination of downtown residents, visitors, working professionals and fans in the same area, the public is advised that heavy traffic conditions are likely and parking around the facilities will be limited. Traffic patterns around Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse and Progressive Field may also be altered.

In order to provide a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone, fans are encouraged to consider the following suggestions:

• Ride RTA. Either park and ride or plan your commute with http://www.riderta.com/ to enjoy all downtown Cleveland has to offer. Rail service will be increased on Friday, April 10th to accommodate additional riders.
• Utilize trollies. Trollies are abundant throughout downtown Cleveland and the best part is, they’re FREE! This service allows commuters to park further away and catch a trolley to their downtown destination. For more information, visit http://www.riderta.com/routes/trolley.
• Arrive early to your destination. Cavs fans are encouraged to plan on arriving BEFORE the conclusion of the Indians game.
• Familiarize yourself with downtown parking garages and surface lots – understand that the lots nearest the arena and ballpark generally fill up first. CLICK HERE to view a map of parking locations in close proximity of The Q.
• Be aware of increased pedestrian traffic, particularly around the Gateway District.

Please also note that due to the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Cleveland Innerbelt Modernization Plan, the following routes have been changed:

• Outbound I-77 traffic now uses a wider, more attractive boulevard along Orange Avenue.
• The E 14th Street entrance to I-77 south has been improved and Broadway Avenue also provides a great alternate to reach I-77. 
• Motorists who use I-71 north or I-90 east to enter Downtown are reminded that the Ontario Street exit ramp is temporarily closed and they should use East 9th Street instead.
