I-77 Closure to Affect Travel to MAC Championships and Arcade Fire
Attention I-77 Motorists: During the weekend of March 15 and 16, I-77 will closed in its entirety near I-480 in the city of Independence, south of downtown Cleveland. Detours will be clearly posted, however motorists traveling from points south along I-77 are encouraged to allow extra travel time to reach Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse on March 15 and 16. For additional details, including detours, click here.
Friday, March 14 through Monday, March 17
On Friday, March 14 at 7 p.m. crews will close all lanes of I-77 north and southbound between I-480 and SR 21 until 6 a.m. Monday, March 17 in order to implement the phase one traffic configuration. Motorists will be detoured via SR 176 and I-490. All traffic leaving downtown Cleveland via I-77 southbound will be detoured via I-490 westbound to SR 176 southbound.
Also during this weekend closure, on Friday at 7 p.m., the I-77 southbound ramp to I-480 westbound and the I-480 eastbound ramp to I-77 northbound will close until early-November 2014. I-77 southbound motorists will be detoured via I-490 westbound to SR 176 southbound to I-480 westbound. I-480 eastbound motorists will be detoured via SR 176 northbound to I-490 eastbound to I-77. See videos below for additional detour information.
The I-480 westbound ramp to I-77 northbound will be reduced to one lane to help improve traffic flow on I-77. Motorists will be encouraged to use SR 176 northbound to I-490 eastbound to I-77 to avoid any congestion on this ramp. The I-77 southbound ramp to I-480 eastbound will also be reduced to one lane due to the contraflow lane configuration. These lane restrictions will be in place from March 14 to late-fall.
**All work is weather permitting**
